2-Ethylhexyl Methacrylate (2-EHMA)

2-Ethylhexyl Methacrylate (2-EHMA) is an ester of Methacrylic acid and is used as a raw material component in the synthesis of polymers. The ester is a monofunctional monomer consisting of a methacrylate group with a characteristic high reactivity and a cyclic hydrophobic group. It forms homopolymers and copolymers. Its copolymers can be obtained from acrylic acid and its salts, amides, and esters, etc.

2-Ethylhexyl Methacrylate (2-EHMA) is also a very useful feedstock for chemical syntheses because it readily undergoes addition reactions with a wide variety of organic and inorganic compounds. The monomer imparts the following properties to polymers:
