n-Butyl Methacrylate (NBMA)

n-Butyl Methacrylate (NBMA) is an ester of Methacrylic acid and is used as a raw material component in the synthesis of polymers. n-Butyl Methacrylate (NBMA) is a functional monomer consisting of a methacrylate group with a characteristic high reactivity and a cyclic hydrophobic group. n-Butyl Methacrylate (NBMA) forms homopolymers and copolymers which can be obtained with acrylic acid and its salts, amides, and esters, as well as methacrylates, acrylonitrile, maleic esters, butadiene, and other monomers.

n-Butyl Methacrylate (NBMA) easily entering into the reaction of accession with a wide range of organic and inorganic substances, is used for the synthesis of organic low molecular weight substances.

n-Butyl Methacrylate (NBMA) is stored in an airtight aluminum container or stainless steel container in a covered fireproof warehouse at a temperature not exceeding 25 °C. It is allowed to store butyl methacrylate in a hermetically sealed steel container. n-Butyl Methacrylate (NBMA) is transported by road and rail in covered vehicles and in aluminum and special steel road and rail tanks in accordance with the rules for the carriage of goods in force on this type of transport. n-Butyl Methacrylate (NBMA) in bottles and steel containers is transported only by road. It is allowed to transport the product in steel containers in open vehicles. By rail, butyl methacrylate in barrels is transported by wagon shipments. The degree (level) of filling of tanks is calculated taking into account the full use of their capacity and volume expansion of the product with a possible temperature difference along the route.

Safety

n-Butyl Methacrylate (NBMA) is a flammable liquid with a characteristic etheric odor. The flash point is 50.5 °C (z.t.). The auto-ignition temperature is 289 °C. The upper limit of the spread of flame is 3% vol. The lower limit of flame spread is 20% vol. n-Butyl Methacrylate (NBMA) has a narcotic and universally recognized effect. The maximum permissible concentration of butyl methacrylate vapor in the air of the working zone is 30 mg / m3. According to the degree of exposure to the body, butyl methacrylate is assigned to the 4th hazard class according to GOST 12.1.007. When working with n-Butyl Methacrylate (NBMA), the sanitary rules for organizing technological processes and hygienic requirements for production equipment must be strictly observed. All types of work with n-Butyl Methacrylate (NBMA) should be carried out in rooms equipped with general supply and exhaust ventilation. It is not allowed to carry out work in these rooms using an open fire. Those working with n-Butyl Methacrylate (NBMA) must be provided with special clothing and personal protective equipment in accordance with GOST 12.4.034. In the event of a fire, it is necessary to use fire extinguishers OP-5, OVP-100 koshma, sand, asbestos cloth. n-Butyl Methacrylate (NBMA) spilled on solid soil should be covered with sand.
